About

Description: Sewn cloth and sisal section buff.

About: Designed for cut down operations where some flexibility is required. The cloth plies help to hold compound and reduce fraying. Used primarily on stainless steel or steel with limited application on hard aluminum, brass and zinc. Not recommended for mush buffing operations.

Construction: Sisal fiber is formed into twisted strands. The strands are then woven into a coarse, heavy cloth and cut into full discs. Each ply is turned slightly to assure wear and then sewn. These buffs are made from full discs of the required diameter die cut from flat woven sisal cloth alternated with die cut cotton cloth. The discs are counted and turned to the desired ply as they are packed. Spiral sewing is added starting at a diameter to allow the proper arbor hole to be cut. The type of spiral sewing is determined by the required flexibility. It is generally sewn in the form of a spiral from the center to the edge of the buff. The distance sewn between each row can be 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2". Quarter inch being the most common. Available sewing types are Concentric, Straight Spoke, Radial Arc, and others. Can also be dip treated depending on job requirements.

Dip Treatments: Both standard and specialty dip treatments are available which offer enhanced performance characteristics depending on the application requirements. Call or e-mail for specific dip treatment characteristics and recommended applications.

Typical Application: For buffing or coloring various articles made from metal where a softer cut and increased flexibility is needed over treated full disc sisal buffs.

Sizes: 2" to 20" diameter with standard sections being 11ply. These sections are approximately 1/2" thick and can be ganged together on the arbor shaft to achieve the desired overall face width.

Precautions: Safe operation requires the use of end washers or flanges. Wear appropriate safety clothing, respiratory, and eye protection during use. Do not exceed maximum specified RPM.

Note: Industrial grade. Guaranteed for quality and performance.
