About

Description: Bias cut sewn sisal section buff.

About: Sewn bias sisal section buffs are firmer and not as flexible as a open face sisal buffs. These are designed for cut down operations where more flexibility then a full disc sisal buff is required. Used primarily on hard aluminum and steel with limited application on brass and zinc. Not recommended for mush buffing operations. It is generally sewn in the form of a spiral from the center to the edge of the buff. The distance sewn between each row can be 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2". Quarter inch being the most common.

Construction: These buffs are made from bias cut rolls of woven sisal reinforced with the proper thread and spiral sewing depending on the job application. They are cut on the bias which helps reduce fraying. They have a flat compact face appearance which can be varied by altering the ply or density. The choice of spiral sewing and treatment will effect the flexibility and hardness. Available sewing types are Concentric, Straight Spoke, Radial Arc, and others. Can be made from untreated sisal but dip treatments are highly recommended for enhanced performance and extended life.

Typical Application: For buffing or coloring various articles made from metal where increased rigidity is needed over open face sisal buffs.

Sizes: 8" to 22" diameter with standard sections being 8ply. Centers are available in 3", 5", 7", and 9" and should be in compatible relation to the diameter of the buff. Standard 8ply sections are approximately 1/2" thick and can be ganged together on the arbor shaft to achieve the desired overall face width.

Precautions: Proper mounting and safe operation requires the use of end flanges. Wear appropriate safety clothing, respiratory, and eye protection during use. Do not exceed maximum specified RPM.

Note: Industrial grade. Guaranteed for quality and performance.
