Tapered and Cylinder Buffing Wheels

Tapered buffing wheels or tapered buff bobs, are cylindrical in shape but have a tapered shape of a cone, meaning that one end of the wheel is narrower than the other. This design allows for more precise and controlled buffing in hard-to-reach areas or on curved surfaces and is commonly used to buff / polish inside diameters where there is no bottom to be polished. The tapered buff shape also helps to prevent excessive heat buildup and reduces the risk of burning the material being buffed. Cylinder buffing wheels or cylinder buff pads, have a uniform cylindrical shape with straight edges.  They are typically used for larger surface areas and provide a more even and consistent buffing action. Cylinder buffing wheels are often used for heavy-duty applications and can remove more material at a faster rate compared to tapered wheels.  Both tapered and cylinder buffing wheels are commonly made from various materials such as cotton, sisal, or felt. Both cylinder polishing buffs and tapered polishing buffs can be used in conjunction with polishing compounds, set up with glue and abrasive grain or used with grease-less compound to achieve a desired finish on metal, wood, or other materials. They are commonly used in automotive, woodworking, and metalworking industries for tasks such as polishing, deburring, and surface preparation.  Designed for use on a tapered spindle.
